History

The Predictive Index System was created in the 1950's by Arnold S. Daniels, who developed a survey that could accurately measure a wide spectrum of behavioral characteristics. During the 1950's, after helping develop tests to fill US Air Force positions, Daniels became convinced that these tests could play a valuable role in business, where such tools were virtually unknown.

The first statistically proven prototypes of what became known as The Predictive Index were developed over the next few years. In 1955, the first generation PI checklist and training course was launched. Over the next fifteen years, with many thousands of PI checklists available for statistical study, the norms were revised and refined, and the second generation of the survey was developed. The PI seminar that was originally delivered in a five-day format underwent constant improvements, thanks to continuing interaction with a growing number of licensees, associates and users.

In 1971, Arnold S. Daniels Associates was incorporated as Praendex Inc. The next thirty years saw the development of improved versions of the survey and its scoring technique, as well as new methods to evaluate positions. Translations and validations in more languages were accompanied by refinements in the seminars themselves which was then presented in a 3-day format.

Today, Praendex Inc. trades under the name of PI Worldwide through 40 licensees and 200 associates in all regions of the world, with a global client base of more than 7,000 companies and 43,000 active PI analysts now using the system. The Predictive Index Survey, presently in its fourth generation, exists in 60 languages. It is the most highly developed, accurate and practical system of its kind ever devised, and takes full advantage of recent internet and communication technologies.
